A great program featuring the crossover music of Claude Bolling
With violinist Tim Schwarz and flutist Novoa Champion
July 31, 2019
Check out Muphen Whitney’s latest Podcast about this terrific program with interviews of all the participants:
Join us for a thrilling crossover program exploring the connections between classical and jazz music through the works of Claude Bolling. This year, we present his Suite for Violin and Jazz Piano that was written originally for Pinchas Zukerman. My great friend and colleague, Tim Schwarz, will come from Philadelphia as our guest violinist. Tim and I got our graduate degrees together at Peabody and were the 1996 U.S. Artistic Ambassadors of Music, which resulted in a two month tour of the Middle East and Southeast Asia playing American music. We are also excited to introduce flutist Novoa Champion, who will play the first two movements from Bolling’s wonderful Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano. Bassist Lawrence Hutfles from Peabody will also join us. It will be a great evening!
Check out this video of Tim and I playing some Gershwin together:
