“QUARTESSENCE”
Piano Quartets for clarinet, violin, cello, & piano

A wonderful combination of instruments playing a forgotten Romantic masterpiece by Walter Rabl as well as some newer works, including a piece by Phillip Rhodes, a composer who now lives in Black Mountain and is the grandfather of our young clarinet prodigy

September 27-28, 2019

In this program, we feature 16 year-old clarinet prodigy Aaron Lipsky, who has already won numerous competitions in the region and has participated in both the Brevard Music Festival and the Curtis School of Music summer program.   He will be joined by local favorite Franklin Keel on cello, a classically trained cellist and Associate Principal of the Asheville Symphony who also plays in the fantastic band, Sirius B.   Emmanuel Borowsky, a terrific violinist from Baltimore, will join pianist/Artistic Director Daniel Weiser in this all-star quartet.  They will perform a neglected Romantic masterpiece by German composer Walter Rabl along with some newer works by Oscar Navarro, Srul Irving Glick, and Phillip Rhodes, a wonderful composer who recently retired to Black Mountain and who is also Aaron’s grandfather.
