Roseminna Watson, violin
Roseminna McLeod Watson, violin, began playing the instrument at the age of three and she trained early at the New England Conservatory Prep Department. After earning a B.A. in Graphic Design from Yale University in 2005, Roseminna continued her musical studies at Stony Brook University where she completed a Masters in Violin Performance while studying with Ani Kavafian and Pamela Frank among others.
She completed an Artist’s Diploma in Chamber Music at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and joined the Aiana String Quartet in 2010 as first violinist. The quartet won the String Prize at the Coleman International Chamber Music Competition in 2011 and was the Scholarship Quartet in Residence at San Diego State University. The Quartet went on to become the Young Professional String Quartet in Residence at the Butler School of Music at UT Austin under the mentorship of the Miró Quartet.
Since the Aiana String Quartet’s amicable dissolution in 2013, Roseminna has been rebalancing her energy, reconnecting with her deep calling as a musician, artist, and writer, and allowing new channels to be opened in all realms of her being. She is ecstatic to have recently launched the performance entity, MOHINYA, that will continue developing and integrating all aspects of her creative self.
